Dr. Alex Fenton gehört zum Team des Forschungsdatenzentrums am SHARE BERLIN Institut. Er leitet die Arbeit des SBI zu regionalen und räumlichen Statistiken innerhalb der SHARE-Datensätze.
Er ist Soziologe und promovierte an der Universität Hannover zum Thema „Amtliche Statistik und Sozialstaatlichkeit“, einer historischen soziologischen Studie zur Armutsmessung in Deutschland und Großbritannien von 1970 bis 2010.
Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Regional- und Stadtsoziologie, die politische Ökonomie des Sozialstaates sowie die Politisierbarkeit des wissenschaftlichen Wissens, wie etwa als „evidence“.
