SHARE International Seminar Series

The SHARE International Seminar Series (SISS) presents:

The Exposome and Global Ageing

Abstract

This seminar will present findings from the recent Nature Medicine study that combined data from over 160,000 adults in 40 countries, including participants from SHARE, to examine how lifelong environmental exposures shape the pace of aging.

Prof. Báez Buitrago will introduce a new “biobehavioural age gap” measure that reveals whether someone is ageing faster or slower than their chronological age and show how social, physical, and political environments influence this gap.

Emphasis will be placed on global differences, the predictive value of the measure for cognitive and functional decline, and how insights from our results can inform precision-prevention strategies and public health policies worldwide.
