Dr. Magdalena Gerum is a postdoctoral researcher at the SHARE BERLIN Institute and works in the Database Management department of the Survey of Health, Ageing, and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).

Her methodological approach combines quantitative data analysis with in-depth expertise in handling complex data structures and internationally comparable longitudinal data. Her work focuses on the preparation and harmonisation of SHARE data, as well as on its quality assurance, documentation, and analysis. Her work also involves close collaboration with survey agencies and SHARE country teams from various European countries.

Her research interests lie in the areas of social inequalities, gender roles, and life course research. She is particularly interested in how social and gender-specific inequalities develop and change over the life course. In her dissertation, she examined the division of paid work, housework, and child care among couples and analyzed how this division of labor changes as children grow older.

Dr. Magdalena Gerum studied sociology, statistics, and psychology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, as well as philosophy at the Munich School of Philosophy. She earned her Ph.D. in social sciences from Georg August University of Göttingen.
